Crimson Advocate broke like a shot out of the starting gate and never looked back on her way to capturing the $100,000 Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies Stakes by three-and-a-half lengths at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, 13 May.
Not only did the chestnut filly by Nyquist break her maiden in her second career start – and Stakes debut – she also punched her ticket to Royal Ascot and provided trainer George Weaver of a sweep of the two Stakes races on the program. Both the Royal Palm Juvenile and Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies provide automatic berths into one of the six juvenile Stakes races at Royal Ascot in June.
Crimson Advocate made her career debut at Keeneland in April, finishing third in a 4.5-furlong maiden race on the main track. Switching to the turf and trying Stakes company in just her second start, Crimson Advocate went wire-to-wire and was never threatened when winning easily over the slight favorite, Ocean Mermaid.
Bred in Kentucky by Whitehall Lane Farm, Crimson Advocate is out of Citizen Advocate, a multiple Stakes-winning and Graded Stakes-placed daughter of Proud Citizen. Citizen Advocate’s half-sister, Come a Callin (Dixie Union), has produced Eclipse Champion Two-Year-Old filly, Caledonia Road, multiple Graded Stakes winner, Officiating, and Stakes winner One of a Kind. Another half-sister, Lady Esme (Majestic Warrior), is the dam of Lord Miles, winner of the 2023 G2 Wood Memorial Stakes.
In addition to Crimson Advocate, Nyquist is also the sire of 2023 Stakes winners Hacking It Up and New York Thunder, two-time Stakes winner Johannes and Flying Connection, winner of the Listed Sunland Park Oaks.
Nyquist stands at Jonabell Farm for a fee of $55,000 in 2023.
