Medaglia d’Oro’s brilliant son Golden Sixty returned to the winners enclosure on Sunday, 29 January in the G1 Stewards’ Cup. Run over a mile at Sha Tin, Hong Kong’s Champion won by one length.
The winner of 23 of his 27 career starts, 14 of these have come at Group level including a victory in this very race two seasons ago.
Golden Sixty was bred in Australia and is out of Gaudeamus, an Irish Group 2 winner by Distorted Humor. Golden Sixty is one of the mare’s six winners from her eight foals to race.
Proving dominant in this performance, Golden Sixty scored his 23rd win with three placings from 27 starts for prize-money earnings of HK$121.35 million (US$1,549,845) for trainer Frances Lui.
Medaglia d’Oro has sired 89 Group/Graded winners including 26 that have won at G1 level. They include some of the most recognisable in racing: Rachel Alexandra, Songbird and Talismanic.
He is standing the 2023 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $100,000, stands and nurses.
