Hard Spun's three-year-old daughter Loyalty notched her first career Blacktype win on August 8 at Presque Isle Downs in the Lady Erie Stakes. A $270,000 Keeneland September yearling, the sophomore races in the colors of Gainesway Farm and LNJ Foxwoods.
Loyalty broke very well at the start then settled in nicely in third as the field cruised quickly through the first half mile. Approaching the final turn, jockey Luis Contreras asked Loyalty for more and she responded quickly to gain a one and a half-length lead entering the stretch. From there is was smooth sailing as the filly crossed the wire two and one-quarter lengths in front.
Loyalty was bred in Kentucky by Godolphin, LLC, and Best A Luck Farm. She is out of the unraced Elusive Quality mare, Slew's Quality, and is a half to Champion sprinter and Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint winner Shamrock Rose as well as Stakes-placed runners My Friends Beer and Bet On Mike.
Hard Spun's eight other stakes winners in 2022 include last year's Breeders' Cup Sprint winner Aloha West, Exotic West, Sparkle Blue, Green Light Go, Necker Island and My Philly Twirl.
