Travel Column took command in the stretch and drew off to an impressive two-and-three-quarter-length victory in the G2 Fair Grounds Oaks March 20.
The win earned the daughter of Frosted 100 points toward the G1 Kentucky Oaks on April 30.
Sent off as the slight favorite in the field of seven sophomore fillies, Travel Column stalked leader Souper Sensational from second through the early stages of the race. Travel Column took the lead at the top of the stretch and pulled away in the lane to win easily over Clairiere.
Travel Column has never been worse than third in five career starts. As a two-year-old, she captured the G2 Golden Rod Stakes and was third in the G1 Darley Alcibiades. This year, she previously finished second to rival Clairiere in the G2 Rachel Alexandra Stakes.
Bred in Kentucky by Mr. and Mrs. Bayne Welker, Jr., and Denali Stud, Travel Column is out of the three-time Black Type winner Swingit. Travel Column is a half-sister to three time G1-placed Neolithic. Travel Column was a graduate of the Denali Stud consignment at the 2019 Fasig-Tipton's Saratoga Sale where commanded a final bid of $850,000.
In addition to Travel Column, Frosted is also the sire of Ingratiating, winner of the Listed Talindert Stakes and second in the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes in Australia. Other notable winners include G2 Remsen and G3 Nashua runner-up Ten for Ten, Stakes-placed Frost Me, eight-length Belmont winner Likeable and Keeneland winner Inspector Frost.
