Tightly Twisted overhauled Steelin Magnolias in deep stretch to win the George Rosenberger Memorial Stakes by three-quarters of a length at Delaware Park Sept. 28.
It was the first Stakes victory for the three-year-old daughter of Hard Spun, who was making Stakes debut on Saturday.
Breaking alertly from the starting gate, Tightly Twisted settled into third, content to stalk leaders Steelin Magnolias and Monkey Mind through the early stages of the race. As the field swept through the far turn and entered the homestretch, Tightly Twisted was put under a drive and she responded, eventually overhauling the longtime leader in the shadow of the wire to score a well-deserved victory.
Tightly Twisted was bred in Kentucky by Normandy Farm. She is out of the Proud Citizen mare, Holdontoyourdream, who was third in the G2 Comely Stakes. Holdontoyourdream is a half-sister to Liam’s Dream, winner of the G3 Cicada Stakes. The female family has also produced Danzig’s Beauty, winner of the G2 Gardenia Stakes and Distorted Humor, winner of the G2 Churchill Downs Handicap and G2 Commonwealth Breeders’ Cup.
Tightly Twisted becomes the 76th Stakes winner for her sire, Hard Spun. The stallion is represented by 2019 Graded Stakes winners Out For A Spin, winner of the G1 Central Bank Ashland Stakes; Gatting (G1 Makybe Diva Stakes); Green Light Go (G2 Saratoga Special); A Thread Of Blue ($1,000,000 Saratoga Derby Invitational, G3 Palm Beach Stakes) and Hard Legacy (G3 Regret Stakes).
