A hard-fought dead-heat victory for Flit in Saturday’s G3 Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes at Flemington has continued the spectacular Southern Hemisphere winning streak of her sire Medaglia d’Oro.
The win was the stallion's second Stakes success in as many days in Australia, and his 16th win for the month worldwide.
Making just her second start, Flit showed good improvement to share the win with Ready Set Sail.
Medaglia d’Oro’s recent run of success includes the G1 New Zealand Derby win of Crown Prosecutor on Saturday, 2 March, a day on which his progeny won four Stakes races.
His two-year-old filly Tenley also won the G2 Reisling Stakes at Randwick a week later.
Flit is out of the Redoute’s Choice mare Glissade and is a half-sister to the multiple Stakes winner Flow (Street Cry).
She becomes Medaglia d’Oro’s 125th Stakes winner.
Medaglia d’Oro is standing the 2019 breeding season at Jonabell Farm, Kentucky, at a fee of US$200,000, stands and nurses.
