Hard Spun's three-year-old son Hidden Scroll turned in a spectacular performance on debut at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, January 26, to place himself firmly in the Kentucky Derby picture.
Trained by Bill Mott for owner/breeder Juddmonte Farms, Hidden Scroll went wire-to-wire to win by 14 lengths under a hand ride from jockey Joel Rosario, stopping the clock in 1:34.82 for the mile.
He was named a TDN Rising Star for his performance and earned a 104 Beyer Speed Figure, which is tied with Justify as the co-highest debut Beyer in five years. He's the only horse in his crop to have run a triple-digit Beyer.
Hidden Scroll is out of the unraced Empire Maker mare Sheba Queen, a daughter of G1 winner Etoile Montante. Sheba Queen has a two-year-old full-brother to Hidden Scroll named Time in Hand.
