Saloon Girl took command out of the starting gate and never looked back as she scampered to an easy five-length victory in a six-furlong Maiden Special Weight contest at Belmont Park Oct. 21.
Making just her second career start, the two-year-old daughter of Alpha was never challenged in the race as she began to open up on her rivals on the far turn. Saloon Girl pulled away in the stretch, eventually crossing the wire an easy winner while being geared down.
Bred in New York by Joemar Racing Stables LLC, Saloon Girl is out of Carson City Girl, a winning daughter of Carson City. Carson City Girl has also produced Stakes winner Dublin Girl, and is a half-sister to G1 winner, Daisy Devine (Jenny Wiley Stakes).
Winner of both the G1 Woodward Stakes and G1 Travers during his racing career, Alpha’s first runners are two-year-olds this season. In addition to the Travers and Woodward, Alpha also won the G2 Jim Dandy and G3 Withers Stakes and was second in the G1 Champagne as a juvenile.
