Promising Run earned her second Group Stakes victory of the 2018 Dubai World Cup Carnival when she held off the late charge of Furia Cruzada to win the G2 Balanchine Stakes by a short head at Meydan 17 February.
Breaking alertly under jockey Pat Cosgrave, Godolphin’s five-year-old daughter of Hard Spun raced up on the pace with rival Tiaemah through the early stages of the race. As the field entered the homestretch, Promising Run took command, and held off the furious charge of Furia Cruzada for the victory. Final time for the nine-furlong turf contest was 1:49.79.
