Ahimsa took the lead a few strides out of the starting gate and never looked back as she cruised to a two-and-a-half length victory in a six-furlong maiden special weight at Los Alamitos Race Course December 15.
The chestnut filly provided her sire, Animal Kingdom, with his tenth winner from his first crop.
Bred in Kentucky by Three Great Sons LLC, Ahimsa is out of the winning Cuvee mare, Hot Affair. Ahimsa’s second dam is the Stakes-placed mare Arctic Party, who is a half-sister to Multiple Stakes winner, Barrier Reef.
Animal Kingdom is the sire of nine other winners from his first northern hemisphere crop. They include G2 winner and G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf runner-up Untamed Domain, G2-placed Sunny Skies, Del Mar Graduation Stakes winner Continental Divide, and Stakes-placed Grace and Dignity.
Animal Kingdom will stand at Jonabell Farm in 2018 for a fee of $30,000, stands and nurses.
