Coming off of two ten length-plus wins at Laurel Park, there was still a bit of a question mark on just how talented Bernardini's Seymourdini is. Well - as they sometimes say - "No more questions". The four-year-old continued his winning ways in the Listed State Dinner Stakes at Belmont on July 3, and now boasts five wins from nine career starts.
As he has done in his previous four triumphs, the strapping four-year-old bay colt seized the lead soon out of the gate and made very call a winning one en route to a ten-and-a-half-length victory over the eight and one-half furlongs distance. After setting swift opening fractions of :22.62 and :44.94 while being pressed by Graded Stakes winner Ocean Knight, Seymourdini shook off that rival and crossed the wire in 1:39.81, just .59 off the Belmont Park track record. The Linda Rice trainee is now three-for-three in 2017, with his victories coming by a combined 36 1/4 lengths.
Seymourdini was bred in Kentucky by Besilu Stables and is the fourth winner produced from G2 winner and G1-placed Graeme Six. She has also produced G3 winner Cali Star (by deceased Darley stallion Street Cry) and G3 winner Delightful Joy.
Bernardini is enjoying yet another successful season in 2017 with six Black type winners to date, including Graded winners Imperative, Le Bernardin and Watershed. He has sired a total of 40 Group or Graded winners, a growing list highlighted by G1 Travers winners Alpha and Stay Thirsty, multiple G1 winners To Honor And Serve and Cavorting, and many more.
