Timeline earned his second straight Graded Stakes win with a convincing wire-to-wire romp in the G3 Pegasus Stakes at Monmouth Park.
The three-year-old son of Hard Spun, who remains undefeated in four starts, captured the G3 Peter Pan Stakes in similar fashion at Belmont Park in May. The Chad Brown-trained Timeline likely punched his ticket to the G1 Haskell Invitational July 30.
A field of five went to the post in the Pegasus, with Timeline sent off as the heavy 1-9 favorite. Breaking alertly under Javier Castellano, Timeline took the lead a few strides out of the starting gate. Timeline continued to cruise along on the front end, holding about a one-length advantage over his rivals on the backstretch and into the far turn.
As the field entered the homestretch, Timeline began to widen his lead, eventually cruising under the wire to win by three-and-a-half lengths.
Bred in Kentucky by Alexander, Groves, Matz LLC, Timeline was a $500,000 yearling purchase at the 2015 Keeneland September sale. Timeline’s dam Azorina (by Empire Maker), is out of Aldiza, winner of the G1 Go For Wand Stakes. Timeline’s rich female family also includes Champion Althea and Graded Stakes winners Ketoh (G1), Ali Oop (G1), Aishah (G2), Aquilegia (G2), and Twining (G2).
Hard Spun has now sired nine individual Stakes winners this year. In addition to Timeline, Hard Spun is the sire of 2017 Graded Stakes winners Le Romain (G1 Canterbury Stakes, G3 Southern Cross Stakes, in Australia), Promising Run (G2 Al Rashidiya), Nomorerichblondes (G3 UAE Oaks), Taghleeb (G3 W.L. McKnight), Hard Aces (G3 Tokyo City Cup), and Gatting (G2 WATC Derby, Listed Melvista Stakes in Australia).
Hard Spun is standing the 2017 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $45,000 stands and nurses.
