Beyerdini

Big Beyers in 2016 place Bernardini among nation’s elite sires

During his three-year-old championship season, Bernardini logged five Beyer Speed Figures above 110, more than any other racehorse of 2006. None had four. And only three others registered three such numbers higher than 110. Fast forward a decade later and progeny of Bernardini are now distinguishing themselves with impressive Beyer Figures that place their sire among the nation’s best.  The Daily Racing Form’s recently released Beyer Sire Performance Standings for 2016 show Bernardini at the top in several categories.

Bernardini has established himself as a potent source of juvenile success, having sired five juvenile G1 winners since 2010, a feat that can’t be topped by any other US sire.   In 2016, Bernardini was the only stallion to have two juveniles post a 90+ Beyer, with Jamyson ‘n Ginger getting a 103 in her 15-length maiden win at Belmont on October 9th, and Takaful receiving a 92 for his 8-length debut win at Belmont on October 29th, a performance which earned him TDN Rising Star status.  Jamyson 'n Ginger’s 103 Beyer was the highest Beyer for a two-year-old of either gender in 2016:

1. Jamyson 'n Ginger, by Bernardini, 103 Beyer

2. Classic Empire, by Pioneerof the Nile, 102  Beyer

Not This Time, by Giant's Causeway, 102 Beyer

4. Chasing Aces, by Flatter, 101 Beyer

     Bavaro, by Freud, 101 Beyer

All totaled, Bernardini had five two-year-olds register an 80+ Beyer in 2016 which placed him at the top of the list in that category:

1. Bernardini - 5

     Bodemeister - 5

3. Tapit - 4

     War Front - 4

     Flatter - 4

     Exchange Rate - 4

Bernardini also has a reputation as one of the best dirt sires in the world.  His 7 G1 horses on dirt in 2016 can’t be topped by any other stallion, and his 10 Graded Stakes winners on dirt in 2016 was only topped by Tapit.  Only Tapit had more horses post a 90+ Beyer on dirt in 2016.
