Medaglia d'Oro records first Australian-bred Stakes winner
He was his sire’s first Australian-bred winner in January and on August 16, Medaglia d'Oro colt Nostradamus became his sire’s first Australian-bred Stakes winner, claiming the G3 San Domenico Stakes in impressive fashion at Rosehill.
Settling just behind the speed in the 6 1/2f scamper, Nostradamus was brought to the centre of the track at the top of the straight and finished strongly to defeat Washington Heights. Denman’s Breeders’ Plate winner Law made an impressive return to racing with a fast-finishing third.
The most expensive yearling purchase from Medaglia d’Oro’s first Australian-bred crop at $500,000, Nostradamus was bred by Almavale Bloodstock and is the fourth foal of G3-winning Lion Hunter mare Leone Chiara, making him a half-brother multiple G1 winner Star Witness.
Medaglia d'Oro is the sire of 11 G1 winners including Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, Plum Pretty, Marketing Mix and Lochte.
