Final Escrow flies late in George Rosenberger Memorial Stakes
Bernardini's four-year-old daughter Final Escrow put forward an exciting win September 14, closing strong to win the George Rosenberger Memorial Stakes at Delaware Park. In the one-and-one-sixteenth-mile turf race the filly patiently rated off the pace. In the stretch she surged and took the victory in the final strides.
Final Escrow becomes the 24th Stakes winner for Bernardini, and is the second Stakes winner on the day for her sire after Forever Discreet won the Listed Morphettville Guineas in Australia as well.
A homebred for Waterville Lake Stable, Final Escrow is out of the Stakes-placed mare Escrow Agent. Escrow Agent is also the dam of G1 Florida Derby and G1 Fountain Of Youth winner Vicar, as well as Stakes winner Sheepscot, who produced G1 French Two Thousand Guineas victor Astronomer Royal and G2 winner Navesink River.
Bernardini is the sire of six G1 winners and 10 G1 Stakes horses. Among them is Alpha, who recently earned his second career G1 win in the G1 Woodward Stakes. They also include G1 Travers winner Stay Thirsty and multiple G1 winner To Honor And Serve. On Tuesday a yearling filly by Bernardini, and half-sister to Champion G1 winner Proud Spell, sold for $1.3 million and topped day two of the Keeneland September Sale.
