Topic all the talk at Del Mar
Coming off a third-place effort in the G1 American Oaks, Discreet Cat's three-year-old daughter Topic cruised in the CTT and Thoroughbred Owners of California Handicap at Del Mar.
In the one-and-three-eighths-mile turf race Topic positioned herself in a ground-saving postion near the rear. Entering the stretch the filly traveled six wide and rolled past the competition to win handily.
Topic is out of the Quiet American mare Quiet Maggy, a half-sister to Champion and dual Classic winner Afleet Alex, as well as multiple Stakes winner and Graded-placed Unforgettable Max.
Discreet Cat is coming off a terrific weekend as his daughter Discreet Marq stole the show in the G1 Del Mar Oaks August 17. He has produced six Graded Stakes winners, representing all three of his crops to race. In addition to Discreet Marq they include G2 winner and G1-placed Discreet Dancer and G3-winning juvenile Debt Ceiling, among others.
