Blue Mountain Cat snatches first Stakes win
Blue Mountain Cat scores his first Stakes win as a four year-old in the Penn Dash Stakes. With 19 career starts, the son of Discreet Cat has found his stride, having won three other starts this year and improving after each.
The colt vied for the lead early and never let up as he drew off in the stretch to win by one-and-one-half lengths in the five-furlong sprint on the dirt. His front-running style certainly helped him here as there was traffic and two horses moved down behind him.
Bred by Grace Ritzenberg, Blue Mountain Cat is out the G2-winning mare Silentlea by Cherokee Run. His second dam, Lea Carter, is a multiple Stakes winner and he is also a half to Stakes-placed Tap Softly.
Discreet Cat has sired five Graded Stakes winners, headlined by G2 winner and G1-placed Discreet Dancer and G2 winner Discreet Marq. He recently had his first two-year-old Stakes winner this year with impressive juvenile Debt Ceiling in the Rollicking Stakes who remains undefeated.
Discreet Cat is currently standing at Darley America for $12,500 stands and nurses.
