Launay repeats Stakes victory
Having finished second in the Listed Hareeba Stakes last time out, Lonhro gelding Launay travelled to Flemington second up to take out the Listed TAB Stakes over 7f – a program followed two years prior to the exact same success.
Settling in behind the leaders Callanish and British General, the Peter Snowden-trained gelding came from around that duo to tough it out and get up to defeat British General, recording his eighth career victory.
Bred by Woodlands Stud, Launay is out of the Palace Music mare Eve In Seychelle, a half-sister to G2 winner Storm and the G3 winners Runaway Groom and Regal Sea. Eve In Seychelle has a yearling, full-brother to Launay.
The sire of 36 international Stakes winners including G1 winners Mental, Beaded, Champion Two-year-old Pierro, as well as Darley Australia stallions Benfica and Denman, Lonhro is standing the current season at $30,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
