Winter Book perfect in Permian Basin Stakes
Any Given Saturday juvenile Winter Book has certainly gotten off to a terrific start to her career by securing her second Stakes victory October 14 in the Permian Basin Stakes. The two-year-old filly was an exciting debut Stakes winner August 25 in the Dale Wood Stakes by more than seven lengths.
Winter Book pressed the pace early on from the outside in the six furlong race at Zia Park. She then began to take charge and easily took the lead to draw away and clinch her second Stakes win.
Winter Book is out of Shawgatny, who is also the dam of Street Sense's Graded Stakes-winning son Motor City and Stakes winner Satulagi. Shawgatny is a half-sister to Graded Stakes winners W. D. Jacks and Star of Gdansk. Winter Book was bred in Kentucky by Lantern Hill Farm LLC.
Winter Book is one of three juvenile Stakes winners this year for Any Given Saturday's second crop, which includes Dry Summer, a Stakes winner at Del Mar. His first crop of runners includes the highly regarded Stakes winner Princess Arabella. The sire is also represented by Stakes winner Sunday's Child, among others. A $1.1 million-dollar yearling, Any Given Saturday defeated Horse of the Year Curlin in the G1 Haskell.
