Heidi Maria sails in City Of Edmonton Handicap
Rockport Harbor four-year-old Heidi Maria stamped her second Stakes victory in a row August 25 with a score in the City Of Edmonton Handicap at Northlands Park. The filly impressed in the Mademoiselle Stakes in early August prior to this second black-type win.
In the one and one-sixteenth mile event Heidi Maria strategically saved ground and put on the pressure when needed in the stretch to nail the win.
A $125,000 Keeneland September yearling, Heidi Maria was bred by Machmer Hall. She is a half-sister to Stakes winner Doc's Doll, who is the dam of Stakes winner Gator Brew and Stakes-placed Montessa. Heidi Maria is also a half-sister to Stakes-placed runner Five Sixteen, who was second to Street Sense colt Street Life in Saratoga's Curlin Stakes this year.
At four, Heidi Maria is from Rockport Harbor's first crop which has accounted for a strong 76 winners to date. This crop includes multiple Graded Stakes-winning filly May Day Rose. His nine second-crop juvenile Stakes horses include Banner Bill and Harbor Mist.
