Filare l'Oro flies in Dauphin Miss Stakes
Filare l'Oro sealed Hard Spun's tremendous day August 18 with a victory, after the sire's Questing dominated in the G1 Alabama Stakes at Saratoga only an hour before. Filare l'Oro settled to the back of the pack in the one mile Dauphin Miss Stakes at Penn National. The filly was steadily advancing throughout and swung wide to unleash her power as they turned for home to take the victory on the turf.
In her previous start Filare l'Oro ran second in the G3 Virginia Oaks at Colonial Downs. Bred by Blue Heaven Farm, LLC, she is out of the Strike the Gold mare Elusive Gold who has already produced the G3 winner Goulding Green as well as the Stakes-placed Baby Bird. Elusive Gold is a half-sister to G1 winner Stop The Traffic and Stakes winner/G3-placed Bionic Soul.
Filare l'Oro joins Hard Spun's 13 Stakes winners to date, and keeps very good company among dual G1 winner Questing and G1 Mother Goose winner Zo Impressive. He has also sired Graded/Group winners Red Duke and Hierro. A son of the talented Danzig, Hard Spun's first crops have proven outstanding with 25 Stakes Horses, 15 in Graded company.
