Elusive Kate best in G1 Prix Rothschild at Deauville
Earning her second G1 win, Elusive Quality's Elusive Kate was never threatened in Deauville's G1 Prix Rothschild July 28. Leading from the start of the one-mile race, Elusive Kate maintained position and established a clear lead with only a few furlongs to comfortably take the victory for trainer John Gosden.
Making only her second start of the year, Elusive Kate ran a very good second in the G1 Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket earlier in the month. At two, she was a winner of the G1 Prix Marcel Boussac at Longchamp, and G3 Prix du Calvados and Prix Six Perfections - both at Deauville.
Elusive Kate is a daughter of the Lemon Drop Kid mare Gout De Terroir, a half-sister to multiple G1 winner Pleasantly Perfect. Her second dam, Regal State, is a winner of the G1 Prix Morny. Elusive Kate was bred by Clovelly Farms.
Elusive Kate marks the second black-type winner for Elusive Quality on the weekend at Deauville. Two-year-old filly Discernable proved best in the Prix Six Perfections just one day prior. Elusive Quality continues to be an outstanding sire of exceptional offspring, as Elusive Kate ranks among eight G1 winners to date. Among his most noteworthy runners are G1 Breeders' Cup Classic winner Raven's Pass, G1 Kentucky Derby winner Smarty Jones, and Australian Champion Sepoy.
