Elusive Image proves too classy in Australia's Belmont Classic
Having his fifth run of the current campaign, three-year-old Elusive Quality gelding Elusive Image gave his sire his latest Stakes winner when recording a half length victory in the Listed Belmont Classic over 11f at Belmont, Australia on July 21.
The winner of three starts from 11 racetrack appearances, the Grant Williams-trained Elusive Image was racing at the distance for the first time and proved too strong for his opposition after coming from the tail of the field to record victory.
Bred by the Western Australian-based Peters Investments Pty Ltd, Elusive Image is the fifth winner from the G2-winning Bluebird mare Reflected Image. The second Stakes winner for the mare, after the dual Listed-winning More Than Ready mare New Image, Elusive Image comes from the family of fellow Stakes winners Facile Tigre, Stormcat Academy, Fighter Jet and Superb Prospect.
The sire of 75 international Stakes winners, Elusive Quality is the sire of eight G1 winners including Kentucky Derby winner Smarty Jones, Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Raven's Pass, Champion Australian colt Sepoy as well as the four-time G1 winner Quality Road.
Elusive Quality stands for $50,000 live foals, stands and nurses.
