Marketing Mix much the best in G2 Nassau Stakes
Medaglia d'Oro filly Marketing Mix further proved that turf is her domain June 2 with a very good win in the G2 Nassau Stakes at Woodbine. The filly stamped her third Graded Stakes win with the victory.
Under the irons of Julien Leparoux for the one mile race, Marketing Mix positioned herself two lengths off the lead in third. In the final sixteenth of a mile she began to duel for the lead before shaking away from the competition in a thrilling stretch finish.
In 2011 Marketing Mix was an exciting three-year-old for Medaglia d'Oro with three black-type wins including the G2 Mrs. Revere Stakes and G3 Pucker Up Stakes. Not to mention, the filly finished a strong second in the G1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes at Keeneland. With the G2 Nassau win today, the filly's earnings reach $793,600 lifetime.
Owned by Glen Hill Farm, the four-year-old filly was bred by Sean Fitzhenry and is out of Instant Thought, by Kris S. Marketing Mix's granddam is Graded Stakes-placed Nimble Mind, a full-sister to G1 winner Contredance and Graded winners Skimble and Shotiche.
Medaglia d'Oro continues to sire strong runners year after year. His first crop was represented by Horse Of The Year Rachel Alexandra, a winner of $3.5 million. Other G1 winners by Medaglia d'Oro include Plum Pretty, Warrior's Reward, and Gabby's Golden Gal. Overall, he is the sire of 15 Graded/Group winners to date.
