Street Cry recorded his tenth individual Stakes winner of 2010 and looks to have another promising horse for the future, following two-year-old colt Zaidan’s impressive victory in the Listed Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Settled off the pace, it looked as though the Clive Brittain-trained colt may need some luck in running but jockey Seb Sanders waited patiently for a gap to appear and once Zaidan began his run, showed an impressive turn of foot and ran n superbly to win by three lengths.
He is now unbeaten in two starts and has earned quotes with the bookmakers for next year's 2,000 Guineas although his trainer indicated that a trip to the United States to contest the Kentucky Derby was the long-term plan.
Bred by Stratford Place Stud and now running in the colours of Saeed Manana, Zaidan is out of the Stakes-placed mare Element of Truth (Atticus), a half sister to multiple Group winner Ramooz.
Street Cry has now sired 16 individual Stakes performers this year, headed up by G1 winners Victor’s Cry and superstar mare Zenyatta – who extended her unbeaten run to 17 when winning the Vanity Handicap for a record third time.
