Well-bred Exodus strong in Allen's Landing Stakes
Three-year-old Medaglia d'Oro colt Exodus blew them away January 24 in the Allen's Landing Stakes at Sam Houston Park, becoming the second Stakes winner on the day for the sire after his G1-winning son Lochte took the G3 Tampa Bay Stakes.
Posting his second win in a row after dominating a Maiden Special Weight by more than eight-lengths at Fair Grounds last time out, the colt made his Stakes debut a strong one. Sent off as the heavy favorite in the seven-furlong race, Exodus held the lead throughout, and when challenged in the stretch kicked on an easy winner to prove much the best.
Bred by Diamond A Racing Corp., the well-bred son of Medaglia d'Oro was a $600,000 Saratoga yearling purchase. He is out of multiple G1 winner Stop Traffic who has also produced G1 Whitney Handicap winner Cross Traffic and Stakes-placed runners Into My Soul and Bianco Tartufo.
Medaglia d'Oro is now the sire of a strong five Stakes winners to date in 2015. In addition to Exodus and Lochte, they are G2 Ft. Lauderdale Handicap winner Mshawish, Micromanage who captured the Jazil Stakes earlier in the week, and Marie G. Krantz Memorial winner Notte d'Oro. Among the sire's top runners lifetime are Horse Of The Year and Classic winner Rachel Alexandra, G1-winning turf specialist Marketing Mix, G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty, and 2014 G1 Just A Game Stakes winner Coffee Clique.
Medaglia d'Oro's stud fee for the 2015 breeding season is $125,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
