Watchyourownbobber took the lead at the top of the stretch and then repelled the late challenge from Rose Brier to win the WV House of Delegates Speaker’s Cup by three-quarters of a length at Mountaineer Park.
It was the second straight Stakes win for the son of Hard Spun, who captured the Warrior Veterans Stakes at Indiana Grand in his previous start.
Watchyourownbobber was bred in Kentucky by Ashview Farm and Colts Neck Stable. He is out of the Stakes-placed mare, Boodles, and is a half-brother to Market Rally, winner of the G3 UAE Two Thousand Guineas.
Hard Spun enjoyed a terrific year in 2015, siring G1 winners Hard Not To Like, Smooth Roller, Hard Aces, and Ertijaal. Hard Spun has sired nine Stakes winners so far this year, including such standouts as Le Romain, winner of the G1 Randwick Guineas, Fursa, winner of the G2 SA Fillies Nursery, and Hard Aces, winner of the G3 Cougar II Handicap.
