Violence too strong in G1 CashCall Futurity
Medaglia d'Oro was the sire of an outstanding ninth G1 winner December 15 as two-year-old Violence stayed unbeaten when dominating the G1 CashCall Futurity.
Sent off as a heavy 6-5 favorite, Violence stalked the early leaders in the one and one-sixteenth mile race. Rounding the far turn he began to advance on the inside. The colt then travelled wide to take the lead at the top of the stretch and there was no stopping him from there. Already a G3 winner by Medaglia d'Oro, Den's Legacy closed strongly for third.
Violence most recently won the G2 Nashua Stakes at Aqueduct prior to heading west for this G1 event. The colt was a $600,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase and is out of the Gone West mare Violent Beauty. Violence is from a strong family that includes Champion Older Mare Sky Beauty in addition to G1 winners Maplejinsky, Dayjur, Tale Of Ekati, Pleasant Home, and Pine Island. He was bred by Dell Ridge Farm, LLC.
Violence joins an elite group of G1 winners sired by Medaglia d'Oro. Among them are renowned Horse Of The Year Rachel Alexandra, G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty, and Marketing Mix who won the G1 Rodeo Drive Stakes on the turf in 2012. Violence is the second Graded Stakes winner on the day for the sire, as he is also represented by G3 Aichi Hai winner A Shin Memphis at Chukyo in Japan. He is the leading commercial sire of the day.
