Consolidator and Elusive Quality continued their successful weekend on August 16, when Bank Merger won at the first time of asking to become Consolidator’s ninth individual winner whilst Elusive Horizon (Elusive Quality) notched her third straight Stakes win with victory in the Emerald Distaff Handicap.
Bank Merger, racing over five and a half furlongs at Monmouth Park, was settled off the pace on the inside and moving five wide at the quarter pole, drew clear of his rivals to win by two and a half lengths.
Owned and bred by Darley, he is out of the winning Seeking The Gold mare Lucrative, who has also produced a Black type performer by Cherokee Run in Profitability. Lucrative is herself a daughter of three-time G1 winner Banker’s Lady.
Meanwhile at Emerald Downs, Elusive Horizon recorded her eighth career win and and fifth Stakes win when taking the one-and-one-eighth mile Emerald Distaff Handicap. Despite being bumped at the start, the four-year-old filly was soon in front and held of the fast-finishing Gadget Queen close to home to prevail by a neck.
Bred by Northwest Farms, she is out of the Unbridled’s Song mare Exogenetic – a half-sister to dual G1 winner Exogenous.
