Aft Cabin (Astern) joins stable mate and paternal brother Golden Mile (Astern) as serious contenders ahead of the three-year-old G1 features. The James Cummings-trained colt Aft Cabin displayed a dominant performance recording a 3.5-length win in the G3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude over 1,400m at Caulfield on Saturday, 17 September.
Jumping clean from barrier six, Jamie Kah opted to sit next to the leader one off the fence biding his time and at the 400-metre mark, Jamie asked of the colt who dully responded with minimal persuasion to draw clear of all his rivals.
Post-race Cummings confirmed the colt will head towards the stallion-making G1 Caulfield Guineas on Saturday, 8 October, a race won by Anamoe, Lonhro, and Redoute's Choice.
Racing as a homebred for Godolphin, Aft Cabin is out of the winning mare, Shelters (Lonhro), a full sister to the G1 winner, Benfica. In addition to Aft Cabin, Shelters has produced the Multiple Stakes winning full siblings, Multaja and Veranillo (Medaglia d'Oro).
