Nostradamus, a son of Medaglia d’Oro, claimed the third G3 victory of his career when he flashed late to win the G3 R N Irwin Stakes at Morphettville, 23 April.
Having his second start since transferring to the Phillip Stokes yard, Nostradamus settled well back in the early stages. After turning for home, Nostradamus shouldered his way into the clear and finished strongly to grab victory right on the line.
Bred by Almavale Bloodstock, Nostradamus, who was a $500,000 Easter yearling, is out of G3-winning Lion Hunter mare Leone Chiara who is also the dam of multiple G1 winner and now stallion Star Witness.
Nostradamus becomes the 10th Stakes winner this year for Medaglia d’Oro whose headline acts in 2016 include G1 Donn Handicap winner Mshawish and star filly Songbird, who stretched her unbeaten run to seven with victory in the G1 Santa Anita Oaks earlier this month.
Medaglia d’Oro is standing at Jonabell Farm at a fee of $150,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
