Following up on the victory last weekend of exciting juvenile Sepoy in the G3 Blue Diamond Prelude, Elusive Quality enjoyed another good Saturday winner in Australia when Bullbars landed the G3 C S Hayes Stakes over seven furlongs at Flemington.
The three-year-old colt, bred by Darley from the Singspiel mares Accessories, came from last to first in the final two furlongs of the straight, surging past his rivals to grab victory at the wire by a half-head. Bullbars has also been placed in the G2 Bill Stutt Stakes in September and was runner-up in the Listed Manfred Stakes at Sandown Park earlier this month.
Peter Snowden, who trains the colt for Sheikh Mohammed, believes he will be even better suited to the mile when he lines up for the Australian Guineas on March 5. He is currently the co-favorite.
The unbeaten Sepoy, who also won the Listed Blue Diamond Preview on January 26, is currently the top-rated two-year-old colt in Australia and is favorite for next weekend’s A$1million G1 Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield.
