Although only showing a resume with just a maiden win, Medaglia d’Oro’s So Brilliant was ready to apply for a job at the next level and passed with flying colors with an impressive win in the G3 Hollywood Prevue Stakes at Hollywood Park on November 24.
Content to settle in the middle of the pack, So Brilliant began to overtake the field’s leaders as they made the turn for home, prevailing by just over a length at the end of the 7-furlong event.
A three hundred thousand dollar purchase as a two-year-old, So Brilliant was bred by Stonewell Farm Stallions, LLC in Kentucky. He is out of the Stakes-winning mare Merry Me In Spring.
Medaglia d’Oro’s 21 stakes performers in 2011 include G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty and G1 Just a Game Stakes winner C. S. Silk. He is currently the leading commercial sire of sale and session toppers in North America. In 2011, 35 of his yearlings made at least $200,000, including a $1.2 million dollar offering at Fasig-Tipton in Saratoga.
