She Be Wild, from the first crop of Darley stallion Offlee Wild, posted a truly magnificent performance to take the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies’ at Santa Anita.
Breaking well from the stalls, the Wayne Catalano-trained filly was settled in third position on the rail and was always travelling well. Given a brilliant ride by Julien Leparoux, She Be Wild did not move from her inside position and once entering the stretch, powered home to win the $2 million contest in fine style.
Speaking after the race, her trainer said: "Julien got a very good spot, saving ground on the inside, and had a very good trip. At the quarter pole it got a bit tight but Julien did a great job.
"She is not a very big filly, so she didn't need much room. She has a tremendous stride for a small horse, and a spunky filly. A little horse with a lot of heart."
Narrowly beaten last time out in the G1 Darley Alcibiades Stakes, She Be Wild was a five-and-three-quarter length winner of the G3 Arlington-Washington Lassie on 5 September and also won the Top Flight Stakes back in April.
Owned and bred by Nancy Mazzoni, she is out of the Seeking The Gold mare Trappings, herself a daughter of multiple Stakes winner Duck Trap.
Offlee Wild has sired 13 individual winners to date, including a further four Stakes performers in Heavenville, Dant, Certain Pride and Tomball.
