Yvete Sangalo was a Maiden Special Weight winner at Lone Star Park at the end of May, and returned to her winning ways in the E.L. Gaylord Memorial Stakes at Remington Park. She becomes the second Stakes winner for her freshman sire Hard Spun. In what appeared to be an effortless victory, Yvete Sangalo stalked the early pace. Going into the turn she began to advance and drew away in the stretch to score by over four lengths in the six and one-half furlong race.
Yvete Sangalo is a homebred for Rancho Pozo de Luna. The filly is out of Ya Tarra, by Unbridled. Ya Tarra is a half-sister to dual Champion Lamtarra, French Group winner Saytarra, and Stakes winner Kammtarra.
Hard Spun’s 19 two-year-old winners ranks among the top freshman sires in the US. They include G2 Superlative Stakes winner Red Duke, Graded/Group-placed Seeker and Questing, and Stakes-placed Glinda The Good. A son of Danzig, Hard Spun was a famously fast winner of the G1 King’s Bishop Stakes at Saratoga.
