Ruud Awakening blows them away at Karaka
Starting a dominant favourite in the NZ $1million Karaka Million, two-year-old Bernardini filly Ruud Awakening jumped straight to the front and the race was never in doubt, going on to record a three length victory, her second Stakes win from five starts.
Having now won four of her five starts, her only defeat came when she finished a long neck second to the unbeaten Lonhro filly Bounding in the Listed Murdoch Newell Stakes.
Bred by Watson Bloodstock, Ruud Awakening is out of the Danehill mare Dawn Almighty, a full-sister to Quintilla (dam of the dual G2 winner Ruud Van Slaats) and a half-sister to Listed winner Chester County. Dawn Almighty has a yearling full sister to Ruud Awakening.
The sire of 18 Stakes winners internationally highlighted by G1 winners Alpha, Stay Thirsty, To Honor And Serve, Biondetti and A Z Warrior, Bernardini is standing the current season at a fee of $150,00 stand and nurses.
