Post Time took command in the stretch and drew off to score a three-length victory in the $200,000 G3 General George Stakes at Laurel Park on Saturday, 17 February.
The four-year-old Frosted colt has now won seven of eight career starts, and currently boasts a winning streak of three straight Stakes victories. The General George win marked the colt’s first Graded Stakes win. Post Time, Maryland’s champion 2-year-old of 2022, improved to 6-0 lifetime at Laurel including wins in the Maryland Juvenile and 2023 City of Laurel, and the Jennings Stakes in January to open 2024.
Patiently ridden by jockey Sheldon Russell, Post Time was settled near the rear of the compact field of six as Seven’s Eleven led the way through the early stages of the race. Post Time began making up ground on the far turn before swinging wide at the top of the stretch for a clear run at the leaders. Post Time took the lead at the sixteenth pole and drew off late to earn the victory.
Bred in Maryland by Dr. & Mrs. Thomas Bowman, Dr. Brooke Bowman and Milton P. Higgins III, Post Time is out of the mare Vielsalm, a Stakes-winning daughter of Fairbanks. Vielsalm is a full sister to Stakes-placed Open the Bank, and hails from the family of G1 winners Rose’s Cantina and Fancy Naskra.
Post Time was the second of two Stakes winners of the afternoon for Frosted, joining Security Code, who captured the Broadway Stakes at Aqueduct less than 10 minutes earlier. Frosted has also sired additional 2024 Stakes winner, Icicles, who took the Likely Exchange Stakes at Turfway Park in January.
Frosted is standing the 2024 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $10,000, stands and nurses.
