Plum Pretty golden in G1 Apple Blossom Handicap

Plum Pretty, the fantastic Kentucky Oaks-winning daughter of Medaglia d'Oro, shined once again April 13 with a dominating victory in the G1 Apple Blossom Handicap at Oaklawn Park.

She was sent off as the heavy favorite in the renowned race, and Plum Pretty certainly proved up to the challenge. In the one and one-sixteenth mile event Plum Pretty stalked the pacesetter in second under a strong hold. She began to put the pressure on nearing the one-half mile pole and swept past the leader entering the final turn. There was no turning back from there, and Plum Pretty cruised in the stretch to a strong win. Quiet American's Stakes-winning daughter Absinthe Minded finished second.

As a three-year-old, Plum Pretty was a two-time Graded Stakes winner. She was victorious in both the G1 Kentucky Oaks and G2 Cotillion Stakes. The G1 Apple Blossom win was her four-year-old debut, and a memorable one it was for owner Peachtree Stables.

The consistent Plum Pretty was bred by Silent Indy Stables, LLC and DDS Stables and is trained by Bob Baffert. She is out of the A.P. Indy mare Liszy, who is a half-sister to Stakes winner Gold Case. Plum Pretty's granddam is G2 Alcibiades Stakes winner and G1-placed Silent Account.

Plum Pretty is one of seven G1 winners for the sensational Medaglia d'Oro, the leading commercial sire of the day. He is renowned for his Horse Of The Year daughter Rachel Alexandra, also a winner of the G1 Kentucky Oaks.
