Animal Kingdom’s son Platinum became his sire’s second winner in the southern hemisphere when landing the two-year-old maiden at Ballarat on 21 March in thrilling fashion.
Jumping from an outside barrier, Platinum travelled comfortably along the outside of the course before charging home in the straight to finish a nose ahead of fellow Darley-sired colt Give (Helmet), himself a half-brother to G1 winner Flying Artie.
Platinum is out of the winning mare Swishes, a daughter of Group-winning Swift Gun mare Swiftsynd and a half-sister to Group winner Le Zagaletta. Swishes is the dam of six winners from as many foals to race, including Stakes-placed Demonstrate (New Approach).
Platinum is from Animal Kingdom’s first southern hemisphere crop, and joins recent ‘TDN rising Star” filly Earth Angel as winners for their sire. His first northern hemisphere runners are due to hit the track later this year.
Animal Kingdom stands at Jonabell Farm for $30,000, stands and nurses.
