Miss Double d'Oro sails in Wine Country Stakes
Medaglia d'Oro added an outstanding 16th US Black type winner to his 2015 record when daughter Miss Double d'Oro posted an authoritative win August 1 in Santa Rosa's Wine Country Stakes.
In the one-and-one-sixteenth-mile turf race the three-year-old filly was held back to trail the field. Around the far turn the filly put forward a tremendous burst, traveling from last to first and put them away down the lane to prove much the best.
Bred by Bluegrass Hall, LLC, Miss Double d'Oro is out of the Dynaformer mare Lost Gold, and hails from the outstanding family of Champions Flanders and Surfside, as well as Graded Stakes winner Battle Plan.
Medaglia d'Oro currently ranks as North America's leading sire by Stakes winners in 2015, a group that includes nine Graded or Group winners, among them G1 winner Mshawish, brilliant Australian G1 winner Vancouver, and recent G2 Lake George Stakes winner at Saratoga Mrs McDougal, among others. Medaglia d'Oro is the sire of 13 G1 winners lifetime, including Horse Of The Year Rachel Alexandra, G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty, and promising young sire Warrior's Reward.
