Midshipman’s son Henry Mac captures first Blacktype event in Sydney Gendelman Stakes at Belterra

Winning for the ninth time in his last 10 starts

A journeyman on the Ohio racing circuit, Midshipman's six-year-old son Henry Mac captured his first career Blacktype Stakes in the Best of Ohio Sydney Gendelman Stakes on June 7 at Belterra. Previously three times Stakes-placed, he was winning for the ninth time his last 10 starts.

Henry Mac broke well and was tracking the leaders in third around the first turn. Shuffled back to fourth along the backstretch, he stayed in that position as the field approached the turn. At the top of the stretch he took aim at the leaders and made the lead in late stretch, pulling away at the wire.

Bred by Dustin J. Thomson & James Slaughter in Ohio, Henry Mac is out of an unraced full sister to G3W Thunder Bertie, dam of Listed winner Ballad of Bertie

Also in 2024, Midshipman is the sire of Oaklawn Park Stakes winner Midshipman's Dance and is also represented by 11 other worldwide Stakes horses. He also has the distinction of being the only stallion with multiple juvenile Stakes winners at Saratoga in 2023 – two-time Stakes winner, Amidst Waves and Ship Cadet

Midshipman stands for a fee of $15,000.
