Hard Spun, the Leading Freshman Sire in the US, sired his 27th two-year-old winner December 26 as Midnight Transfer scored by nearly five lengths at Santa Anita. Traveling six furlongs on the dirt, Midnight Transfer was between rivals early stalking the pace. The colt went wide into the stretch and kicked clear to take the victory effortlessly.
Midnight Transfer was bred by Alpha Delta Stables, LLC and is out of the multiple Graded Stakes winner French Satin, by French Deputy. The mare is a half-sister to G1 winner Lion Heart and Graded Stakes winner Connemara.
Hard Spun, a son of Danzig, has certainly proven himself as a sire with his first crop of two-year-old runners in 2011. His son Red Duke was a winner of the G2 Superlative Stakes in England. He is also the sire of two additional Stakes winners - Yvete Sangalo and Hard Not To Like. In all, he has sired six Graded/Group horses to date already, including Seeker and Glinda The Good.
Hard Spun will stand for $40,000 in 2012.
