The old saying, "horses for courses" rang true once again on October 31st as Elusive Quality's daughter Meshell replicated an earlier April win over the Lexington oval with another third in three total career starts at the track.
In the majority of her most recent outings, Meshell could be seen as more of stalker, within the first four throughout the early part of races. Today, however, she was well back during the first five-eighths of a mile in this six-furlong event, having to wait until the stretch to make her move. She eventually wore down the leader and hit the wire having duelled briefly with one other. This was her first career Stakes win.
Bred in Kentucky by Jamm, Ltd., Meshell is out of a half-sister to Elusive Quality's multiple G1-winning son and successful young sire Quality Road. The immediate family also includes 2015 Stakes winners North Slope and Ruthless Quality, both sired by Elusive Quality.
Elusive Quality has been represented by a G1 winner every year since 2007. He's the sire of 19 total Stakes winners in 2015, including other Group/Graded winners Seduire, Maverick Wave and Eh Cumpari. His 13 total career G1 winners also include Kentucky Derby winner Smarty Jones, Breeders' Cup Classic winner Raven's Pass and Australian champion Sepoy.
Elusive Quality's stud fee for 2016 will be $40,000, with live foal/stands and nurses terms.
