Lonhro was responsible for the first three winners on the Canterbury card today, headed by a very pleasing performance from the Sheikh Mohammed-owned Trim.
Trainer Peter Snowden has long held the two-year-old filly in high regard and will be looking to step her up to Stakes company in the coming weeks after her 1200m first-up win.
Out of the Night Shift mare Firm, Trim was bred by Woodlands Stud, the source of Lonhro’s other two winners on the card. The 1250m handicap winner Beaded is bred on the same cross as Trim, the three-year-old filly being out of another of Night Shift’s daughter’s, the seven-time winner Subtle.
Sandwiched between the two was another three-year-old, Mortal, winner of the 1900m event. He is out of the Quest For Fame mare Psyched and also won over a mile at Warwick Farm on 25 February. In seven career starts, the colt has also finished in the runner-up berth on three occasions.
Lonhro is represented by two Stakes hopefuls this weekend when three-year-old filly Serenissima lines up for the Listed PJ Bell Handicap and Judge Me Not takes his place in the Listed Carbine Club Stakes.
