Flavor, a four-year-old gelding by Elusive Quality, landed his first Stakes win when romping to a three-length victory in the Listed Forego Stakes at Turfway Park.
Bred by Claiborne Farm and Adele B Dilschneider, Flavor is out of the Salt Lake mare Right Spice, a half-sister to the Stakes-winning dams of E Dubai and Raven’s Pass, who was purchased by Claiborne at Keeneland’s 2004 November Breeding Stock Sale for $475,000.
Flavor is Elusive Quality’s second Stakes winner of 2010 following the victory of Quality Road in the G3 Hal’s Hope Handicap on 3 January.
At Laurel Park, five-year-old Street Cry mare Northern Station also gained her first black type in the Listed Nellie Morse Stakes. Bred by Chip Montgomery and Patrick Davis in partnership with Darley, she is out of a daughter of Quiet American, named Quiet Word.
Fans of Street Cry’s Eclipse Award-winning unbeaten daughter Zenyatta received a boost this week with the news that the great mare, winner of eight Grade One races, including the Breeders’ Cup Classic, would remain in training as a six-year-old.
