British raider Elusive Kate (Elusive Quality) recorded her second career success in three starts on Saturday July 30, when successfully stepping up to Stakes company in the Listed Prix Six Perfections at Deauville over 1400m. Trained by John Gosden, she broke her maiden on her second start on the synthetic Lingfield Park surface and proved that grass was no barrier today, recording a one-and-a-half length victory.
Bred by Clovelly Farms and sold for $70,000 as a yearling, she is the first foal of winning Lemon Drop Kid mare Gout de Terroir, herself the daughter of the G1-winning French juvenile Regal State. Gout de Terroir is also a half-sister to Breeders' Cup Classic and Dubai World Cup hero, Pleasantly Perfect.
Elusive Kate becomes Elusive Quality's 69th Stakes winner, a figure that incorporates seven G1-winners including Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Smarty Jones, Breeders' Cup Classic victor Raven's Pass, and this years star Australian juvenile, Sepoy. Siring the winners of 28 Stakes races in 2010, Elusive Quality outperformed any other U.S. based stallion last season.
