Jasper Krone parlayed his front-running style into yet another Graded Stakes victory when he held off the late-closing Mama Cocha to win the G3 Kitakyushu Kinen by a half-length on Sunday, 20 August.
The four-year-old Frosted colt won for the sixth time in 14 starts and notched his second straight Graded Stakes win, following his victory in the G3 CBC Sho in his last start.
Jasper Krone was sent right to the lead out of the gate once again by jockey Taisei Danno. The chestnut colt opened up by a length on his rivals and maintained that advantage into the stretch. He was able to turn back the challenge from a fast-closing Mama Cocha to win by a half-length.
Jasper Krone was bred in Kentucky by Machmer Hall and Godolphin and was purchased by his current connections for $90,000 at the 2021 OBS March 2-Year-Old Sale. He is out the Stakes-placed Kitten’s Joy mare, Fancy Kitten, and hails from the family of Stakes winners Jump Start (G2) and Daring Devil.
In addition to Jasper Krone, Frosted is also the sire of 2023 Stakes winners Frost Point (G3 Doubledogdare Stakes), Ice Dancing (G3 Santa Ynez), Ingratiating (G3 Sir John Monash Stakes in Aust.), Flakes, Late Frost and Arctic Arrogance, runner-up in both the G3 Withers and Listed Jerome Stakes.
