Ice Crystal gives the field the cold shoulder in maiden win
Wire-to-wire win gives Henny Hughes winner number 12 in first crop
Ice Crystal, by Henny Hughes, made every call a winning one at Woodbine on October 14, posting an easy five-length win in a two-turn maiden event at one mile and seventy yards.
Bred by Charles Kidder, Nancy Cole, J. K. Griggs and Linda Griggs in Kentucky, Ice Crystal is out of the Devil’s Bag mare, Seek, she a half-sister to multiple Graded winner Discover.
Henny Hughes, winner of the G1 Vosburgh and G1 King’s Bishop, is the sire of 11 other winners from his first crop to race, including stakes-placed Wealthy Aviator, and Fort Hughes who just received TDN Rising Star status in his maiden victory at Belmont.
