Miracle Victory (Astern) gave Australian jockey Luke Currie a perfect start to his Hong Kong riding stint and Darley sire Astern with another winner when he won the Tathong Channel Handicap over 1,200m at Sha Tin on Sunday, 30 January.
The three-year-old gelding, out of Delaluna, grabbed the lead at the 200m pole and held off the challenges of Voyage Bubble (Deep Field) and Brilliant Way (Reliable Man) to score narrowly.
Currie left Melbourne recently and today teamed up with former champion Australian trainer David Hayes to produce the first win from four starts for Miracle Victory.
The well-bred Astern is from the breed-shaping blue hen mare Essaouira (Exceed And Excel). During his own career on track, Astern was a winner of the G1 Golden Rose at three and the G2 Silver Slipper at two.
The stallion has already sired 37 winners and has produced consistent sales results, with his top lot at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale this month selling to Star Thoroughbreds for $190,000.
Miracle Victory, also a graduate of the sale was a $200,000 purchase from the Ashleigh Thoroughbreds draft in 2020.

Astern will stand the 2022 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for US$10,000, stands and nurses.
