Hit It Once More may have been the longest shot on the board, but he ran like the heavy favorite as he took the lead out of the gate and never looked back on his way to winning the one-mile Haynesfield Stakes at Aqueduct by two-and-a-quarter lengths.
Hit It Once More became the second Stakes winner of the day for sire Hard Spun, whose daughter Promising Run took the G2 Balanchine Stakes at Meydan earlier.
Bred in New York by JMJ Racing Stables LLC, Hit It Once More is out of Sunday Geisha (by Sunday Break), winner of the Trenton Stakes and placed in the Listed My Juliet Stakes.
Hard Spun is the sire of nine G1 winners including Eclipse Champion Questing, Arlington Million winner Hardest Core, and multiple G1 winner Hard Not To Like. In addition to Promising Run, Hard Spun’s 13 Graded Stakes horses in 2017 included Graded winners Timeline, Hard Aces, Nomorerichblondes, and Taghleeb.
Hard Spun is standing the 2018 season at Jonabell Farm for $40,000, stands and nurses.
